The Industry Standard CompTIA A Plus Certification exam has two parts; approximately 80 questions for each part.

Read, Read, Read and Read some more:
Some people learn by doing, others learn by reading. Even if you are in the "Hands On" group of people it never hurts to read. Text books are expensive, use your local library. Thrift stores are a great place to look as well. Free study guides available on the web are great resource as well.
Take Notes:
Whether you are taking a class or doing self paced study, writing things down is great way to make them stick. Highlight your best notes for review on the day you take the exam.
Hands On:
Odds are, you have a newer computer or don't want to risk damaging your own. Get some old computers from local thrift stores and garage sales. The cheap $10 or $20 ones will do just fine. If you can make an old IBM XT with an 8088 and MFM/RLL hard drive work, you will pass.
Study the newer technologies:
Real world experience, and any hands experience even with the older machines is a definite plus. However, make sure that you are familiar with the good amount of more recent technologies covered in the new 2003 revision of the A+ Exam (A Plus Exam).
Stay Focused:
We all have a life, just remember your goal. Once you successfully pass the CompTIA A+ Plus certification your future employment opportunities will be greatly enhanced.
Talk about it:
Take the opportunity to talk with friends and classmates. Better yet, other people who have actually taken the exam. Even those who have failed can give you pointers, especially on what to look out for.
Practice Makes Perfect:
The internet is filled with resources, take advantage of them. Take as many free practice exams that you can find. This will not only give you exposure to questions much like the ones on the test, but it will also prepare you for testing day as well.
Common Sense:
The A+ exam is multiple choice. So while you may not be able to memorize all the questions and answers to everything, use your common sense. If you can eliminate some of the obvious wrong answers you will have an edge.
Take your time:
You are paying for this test, two parts actually. That's $290. You have 90 minutes for each test, don't rush it; that's how mistakes are made. Watch out for double negatives. Don't let being in a hurry cost you $145.
Have Fun:
You should enjoy what you are doing. Once you get past the hard work and studying, this can be a very rewarding career path.
Things to avoid when preparing for the CompTIA A+ Plus Exam
Here are some basic study habits that apply to all situations:
Avoid distractions: Listening to your favorite TV show or blaring your MP3s while you are studying will not help you remember anything.
Avoid UnReliable Websites: The internet is a great place for research and gathering information. However; it can be a double edged sword. Be sure that you double check your information with a verifiable source if you are not using a reliable website.
Avoid Accessories On Exam Day: When you arrive for your exam, try to show up with the least amount of extra clothing or accessories possible. Every testing center I have visited takes the procedures and rules very seriously. This is an industry standard test and should be revered as such.
Avoid Outdated Material: A lot of study material on the internet may not cover the latest objectives. Ensure that you are studying from the latest exam objectives.
Avoid Time Hog Questions: Do not Spend too much time on any one question. If you are unsure, answer it the best you can; then mark it for review after you have finished the rest of the questions.

Scams are all around us and it can be found in every single area of life, but more so in such areas where the risk is greater such as when dealing with credit cards, bank accounts and other activities which involve sending or receiving money online.
The Bank/Credit Card Email Scam:
If you get an email asking you to sign up to your bank account or credit card through the email because your privacy is under danger or just to receive a free gift or something: BEWARE! Do not sign up through the internet address provided in the email. If the email does make you anxious, go to the bank or credit card site using the address you know already or through searching the search engines.
How Does This Scam Work?
The senders of the email know that only a very few will sign up but that is all they need. When you signed up to the bogus internet address, they got your user and password. Now its time for them to party!
The Missing Millionaire Scam:
If you receive an email saying that they represent a dead or missing former ruler, high-ranking official or businessman from an African, Gulf or even Russian: BEWARE! They offer you a chance to earn anything between one to five percent of ten to fifty million. And for your co-operation only. Don't get sucked into this, for though they speak of giving you money, they will receive cash and from your account.
How Does This Scam Work?
They will ask you for your bank details in order to transfer the cash and then they will use that to transfer a small amount. Now, once you trust them, they will ask you for more personal and secure details because they "need" that to transfer the entire sum in and out of your account. What they won't tell you is that they will transfer all the money out from your account: theirs and yours.
The Make Money Fast Scam:
This is the most innocent of the lot, but that is also why it is the most dangerous. These are so-called companies that advertise that if you only sign up and use their system, you will mint money. Please do not fall for such schemes. They will pay you some money but then once trust is built, they will fleece your bank account. Remember that quick money scams are the surest and fastest way to lose all your money!
Conclusion:
Whatever you do online, always remember that the internet is not a safe place. Treat it like you would treat any other business venture and bring up your guard. If you play it safe and check out the companies before committing, you will be able to guard yourself against losing money to crooks.

Medical Transcription (MT) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) Software
Electronic Medical Records (EMR) has revolutionized the healthcare industry in recent times. Many experts felt that EMR & Voice Recognition would totally replace Medical Transcription - however; the industry soon realized that transcription has certain advantages over point & click charting and many physicians preferred to dictate notes rather than document the data at the point of care themselves.
The most critical part of any Electronic Medical Record (EMR) is the method of data entry. EMR is about aggregation of patient encounter data at the point of care in order to provide a complete, accurate, and timely view of patient information. Users simply point and click to select appropriate choices from lists of choices to record a patient encounter. The end result would be a document that closely resembles a transcribed procedure note.
Advantages
* Completely customizable templates. The doctor can specify the layout of the template, which helps him to adjust the template as per his practice & procedure.
* Provide consistent, complete and accurate data. The chances of medical erros are reduced since the data is documented in customised forms.
* Notes for similar type of exams will appear to be standard and similar
* Store / organize data for subsequent retrieval.
* Each click adds data elements to the database. Point-and-click systems create data that can be used to generate clinically useful reports, such as health maintenance reminders, disease management etc.
* One of the major advantages of template based charting is the time needed to make the document available as a medical record. Since notes are created within the EMR, they are available immediately upon completion.
Disadvantages
* It takes more time, and definitely more concentration for a physician to navigate through large data set and create progress notes using point and click templates.
* Templates must be customized as per the physician’s requirement.
* Customization can be inflexible and costly.
* Well accepted by only tech-savvy doctors.
* The approach of direct data entry by the physician has generally failed because busy providers reject it altogether.
* Output from these templates is too canned and identical. It loses individuality for each patient.
* It is difficult for a provider to capture complete patient encounter on computer in front of a patient.
Medical Transcription
Transcription has long been the standard for documenting patient encounters. It is more convenient for a provider as compared to handwritten notes or electronic data entry. There are many advantages of transcription in comparison to point and click charting. There are a few disadvantages as well.
Advantages
* Correspond intuitively to the physician's usual method of working. Dictation remains the most intuitive and least time-consuming means of data entry.
* Physicians can dictate anytime, anywhere using PDA, Dictaphone or telephone at their convenience.

* It requires minimal training for physicians.
* Provides expressive power to describe patient’s condition and other health related events
Disadvantages

* Transcribed reports are not immediately accessible. Physicians would normally have to wait for 12 to 24 hours for charts to be delivered, unless few vendors supporting 2-4 hours short turn around time.
* Transcription provides for more efficient use of doctor's time.
* Although average transcribed report costs $2 to $4, it can reduce the doctor's time spent on data entry.
Considering the value of doctor’s time, transcription is not a costly proposition.

A competent EMR must have a template driven charting feature and the ability to interact with a transcription service at the same time.
